Healing the father wound is a journey into self. This wound lies deep within the human soul as deep as the roots of the ancient trees that tower over us. It’s a wound that affects both men and women from having a father or caretaker that was emotionally unavailable, absent, they may have died when a child was young, had addictions, or been abusive. etc. and can leave a person feeling abandoned, rejected, and unworthy of love.

The father wound can deeply impact women’s lives if this is not healed. It can lead to low self-esteem, a lack of trust in men, attracting emotionally unavailable men, if this is what was modelled to you in childhood from your own father or caretaker and fear of emotional vulnerability. But healing the father wound is possible.

Healing from the father’s wound is a journey that requires courage, vulnerability, and a willingness to explore the depths of your soul. Practices such as yoga, meditation, dance, somatic healing, inner child work and breathwork, will support releasing any trauma that has stored itself in our bodies.

This healing work is not just for women but everyone affected by patriarchal systems. It is a journey that requires us to look deep within ourselves, acknowledge the wounds we carry, seek the support and guidance of others and not be afraid to do so, long gone are the days when it was frowned upon to have a therapist or healer. Whatever it takes to return those parts of ourselves we have disconnected from. Parts of our soul that chipped off in the wake of the trauma in whatever way have shown up for you. Soul retrieval work is very good in the healing process too. This also helps us explore past life influences and what you have carried through into this lifetime as the divine feminine has been demonised throughout history.

You can explore what your inner child needs through deep inner work. You can learn how to set healthy boundaries by communicating your needs and attracting emotionally available and respectful partners. Allowing you to build healthy relationships based on trust, mutual respect, and emotional availability.

So, how do we begin to heal from the father’s wound? Well, there are a lot of different practices and techniques that can help us on this journey.

First off, journaling can be a really powerful tool for healing. By putting our thoughts and emotions down on paper, we can process and work through them. We can also practice self-soothing techniques, such as writing ourselves compassionate letters or reminding ourselves of our strengths and accomplishments.

Kundalini yoga is another practice that can be incredibly helpful in healing the father wound. This style of yoga focuses on moving energy through the body and connecting with our inner selves. Breathwork and mantra can also be powerful tools in this practice, helping us to access deeper parts of ourselves and release any stored trauma.

Meditation and mindfulness are also key practices in healing the father wound. By learning to observe our thoughts without judgment and cultivate a sense of calm, we can begin to break free from negative thought patterns and beliefs that may be holding us back.

out in but to a child it’s all traumatic. And this is where the abandonment wound/father wound begins.
